Sowing in faith

Sowing in Faith

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds you sow.” – Robert Lewis Stevenson

Everything we see today is a result of a seed that has reproduced. Therefore, living things evolve around us as the seed sown into the ground begins to release the power hidden on the inside. This is how the master designer made it.

Genesis 1:11 NKJV says, “Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so.

According to divine order, everything that has life has an internal mechanism for reproducing after its kind, or, in other words, extending itself on earth. Every tree, or rather fruit, that we see today is a result of a process of reproduction after its kind that has taken place. God does not need to create anything new after the creation story in Genesis. It is all hidden in the seed. Good seed, good results; bad seed, bad results.

We also see that when God created man, He took it a step further by adding a differentiator; it is written in

Genesis 2:7 NKJV “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. In addition to the natural seed that every man and woman possesses, God deposited in man the breath of life.”

In addition to the natural seed that every man and woman possesses, God deposited in man the breath of life.

The holy scriptures talk about seeds in many forms, especially when it comes to preserving lives. Think about Genesis 26, when there was a famine in the land and God instructed Isaac not to run to Egypt but to sow seed in the dry season. The Bible says in verse 12 that

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him.”

God preserved them. In Genesis 42, when there was a famine in Egypt that was going to impact the entire world. God led Joseph to propose a great idea for Egypt. It involved saving up seed for the time of famine and saved Egypt and the known world.

God gives man the opportunity to safeguard their future by planting seeds. These seeds produce after their kind, some for the next round of planting and some for food. This is the cycle of life. There is a time for every purpose under heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Everyone needs to find out the planting seasons and make the most of them.

There is also the issue of multiplication. In Mark 4, The lord Jesus Christ gives a parable about a Sower. In it, He goes on to explain that the Sower is the son of man and the seed is the word of God. The soil is the hearts of men. Once the word finds fertile ground, it will produce a harvest some thirty-fold, some sixty, and some hundred. If the ground is well cultivated, then it is impossible for the seed not to multiply itself. One maize seed yields two maize cobs. This is the miracle power of a seed.

God gives us opportunities in the form of raw material, seeds that we ought to nurture to bring out the best in them. It is up to us to produce what we want from that raw material.

Mark 4:26-29 NKJV says, “And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.

We plant in anticipation and trust God for a harvest. He surely never fails. God will not allow seasons to fail because He has ordained them for sustaining life.

Genesis 8:20-22 NKJV, Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. And the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done. “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night Shall not cease.”

God will always keep His side of the bargain. All His promises are yes and amen through Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:20). He has exalted His word above His name (Psalms 138:2). He will watch over His word to perform it (Isaiah 55:10-11).

We can therefore safely say that whatever you want to see is hidden in the seeds you have in your hands and the season on hand. You have to reach out by faith and sow those seeds. The seeds could be in the form of time that you can invest in a relationship, the money you invest in a savings and investment club, and time and money invested in exercise or resources to go learn a new skill. Whatever it is that you are led to do, be sure it will return a harvest.

A beautiful promise from

Psalm 126:5-6 NKJV, Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
